Harnessing AI to deepen learning while preserving our core mission of nurturing proficient, curious, and ethical readers and writers.

Our approach

Just as a hammer can be used to build homes or smash windows, we see Generative AI as a tool whose ultimate effects depend on the user. And we believe that teacher expertise ought to shape policies and practices related to how this transformative technology gets used in school. Rather than prescribing rigid rules for GenAI in education, the PAL Framework encourages educators to ask the right questions about GenAI’s role in their classrooms and instructional choices. It also provides a sustainable and flexible framework for their students to use as they grow as readers, writers, thinkers, and communicators.

The PAL Framework

A structured, yet flexible framework to support literacy development with and through GenAI.

Builds capacity of educators and students to make both in-the-moment and longer term decisions about GenAI use.

Designed for use by teachers and students in all subject areas, grades 5-12.

In-person and remote professional development options
